DESCRIPTION:Our third special out of four evenings that explore Ukraine through film\, art\, and conversation. Each evening has its own focus\, yet together they form a powerful narrative of loss\, resilience\, hope\, and cultural pride. Platon Tolstik presents feature film My Thoughts are Silent and short film Shelter\,  plus Q&A with director Anna Sherstiuk. \nShelter (2024)\nShelter tells the story of 10-year-old Nikita from Ukraine who moved to the Netherlands with his mother. He struggles with the unfamiliar language and making new friends. In secret\, he plans to cycle back to Kyiv but first needs to learn how to ride a bike with the help of a classmate.  \nMy Thoughts are Silent (Мої думки тихі) (2019)\nAntonio Lukich’s first feature film is a delightful comedy and road movie that explores demographic challenges in Ukraine while addressing the topic of immigration. \nVadym\, a freelance sound artist\, wins an opportunity to collaborate with a Canadian video game company. Tasked with capturing the sounds of wildlife in Western Ukraine\, Vadym needs the help of his energetic mother\, who can shuttle him from site to site\, to carry out the commission.
